Mike Hanback posted a blog titled Would You Shoot This 8-Pointer? The blog shows a picture of a nice mature 8-point buck. Hanback reminds his readers that the buck would score around 135 and it should be a buck that anyone would be proud to harvest.
In a world where we are constantly bombarded with images of monster deer on TV and in magazines, it is easy to get caught up in the monster buck hype. Hunters should be able to appreciate taking a quality deer like the one in the photo that was sent to Hanback.
Sure, everyone would love to be able to take a giant that scores 160 or better. But if a mature buck presents itself, don’t be ashamed to take that 135-class 8-point. Remember, a cull deer in one part of the country might be considered a trophy in another part.
